About Me

Photo for Blog

Hi, Thanks for stopping by!  I am a self taught artist and photographer, I have taken random classes from time to time but I learn more by doing than anything else. I love the scripture Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.  I have been placed in situations at work and at home that pushed me to do things out of my comfort zone and God has given me wisdom and strength to get them done.  So instead of the knee-jerk reaction that used to plague me…”I can’t do that”, now my reaction is..”well, I have never done that before but I will give it a try”.  I am working on letting go of the fear of failure, I have failed and will fail again but as long as I continue to try new things the fear gets smaller and the passion and peace grows larger.

One of those new things is teaching art at my church; several years ago I was given permission to start an Art Group.  My thought was that I needed time with other artists, to learn from and share with; imagine my surprise when everyone who came for the first meeting had no experience and wanted me to teach them..that knee jerk reaction was (looking up) “Really”, “I mean, Really!”.  So I took a step back and started thinking about what to teach or in my terminology “share” and how to show them that they CAN paint and create art!  It is very gratifying to see people’s eyes light up and a big smile break out when they create something.  God is so very good, all the time!

I have lived in the metro area of Georgia all of my life, but I must have some gypsy heritage from an unknown relative because I love to travel to see far away places and make new friends.  I have traveled to France, Italy, Kenya and many states here in the US, but my list is still very long.

A passion first for Christ, to share his love and to get to use art and photography to do that is a wonderful thing.  Mixed Media is my current art love, but I am still drawn to realism and the rules of art are constantly running through my brain no matter what medium I am using. Acrylics, oils, watercolor, mixed media are all mediums that I have dabbled with and continue to practice and work in. There is no tellin (Southern word) what you will find on my blog!  Faith, art and photography along with tales and tidbits from my life and the lives of my children and grands!

Thanks again for taking time to get to know me, I hope to have the pleasure of getting to know you too.
